The official spokesman of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said on Tuesday that 20 of their fighters were killed and 18 injured by Turkish airstrikes.

On Tuesday, the Turkish army hit 39 positions of the YPG and the PKK in Syria and Iraq.

“On the morning of Tuesday, 2017/25, the Turkish warplanes bombed the headquarters of the General Command of the People’s Protection Units in Mount Karajukh, where 20 fighters were killed and 18 others injured, three of them seriously,” he said.

Khalil pointed out that the bombardment resulted in heavy material damage at the site and destroyed civilian property near the targeted area.

Moreover, five Peshmerga fighters were killed in the Turkish airstrikes in Sinjar. “At 0200hrs on 25 April, as a result of Turkish airstrikes targeting PKK positions on and around Mt. Sinjar, five Peshmerga were martyred and nine wounded,” General Command of Peshmerga Forces of Kurdistan Region said on Tuesday.

“This painful and unacceptable attack on Peshmerga forces by Turkish warplanes is a result of PKK’s presence in and around Sinjar,” the Peshmerga Ministry said, calling on the PKK to leave the area.

Sihanok Dibo, a Kurdish official of the Democratic Union Party in Syria (PYD), blamed America for the Turkish attack.

“It is right to say: America bears responsibility for Turkey’s operation against YPG headquarters,” he said. “So, it would be necessary to correct this big error.”

Moreover, Kurdish official Ilham Ahmad, the co-head of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDF), called on the international coalition to condemn the Turkish aggression.

“From now on, we would not accept our areas that contain hundred of thousands of refugees to be bombarded,” she said.

“The YPG and SDF are liberating the area from ISIS terrorism, the Turkish occupation is launching these attacks on our safe areas,” she said.

“We refuse this completely, and would not accept to be attacked by warplanes so long as it was by the Turkish, Russian, Syrian regimes as our all areas are safe and comprise hundred thousands of refugees,” she concluded.

Also the co-chair of the PYD, Salih Muslim, called on the international coalition to not stay silent towards Turkey’s aggression against the Kurds.

“There are illegal attacks, and there also were bombardments on the border areas and scouting warplanes hovered, and they could not fright the Kurdish people as Kurdistan people are resistant and would express their attitude resolutely,” he said.

“The international coalition must express its attitude about these attacks. The people that are struggling against the oppressed forces are being targeted so the international coalition must not stay silent, and must not accept one of these attacks,” he concluded.

On Tuesday afternoon, a delegation of the YPG central command, and a U.S. colonel, who represents the international coalition against ISIS, visited the targeted area.
