Aleppo, Syria− Air force loyal to President Bashar al-Assad dropped on Monday explosive barrels on al-Sakhour neighbourhood in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria. At least five civilians were killed and 15 others injured during the attack.

Emad Omar, civil rights activist based in the city of Aleppo, told ARA News that the helicopters bombed residential buildings with two explosive barrels claimed the lives of five civilians and wounded 15 others. “The wounded were taken to the field hospital in the neighbourhood,” Omar said.

“Three other civilians were killed and several others were injured, in a similar strike on the village of al-Mansoura and Haritan town in the countryside of Aleppo,” Omar added. “The injured were taken to nearby field hospitals, while the bombing left behind a huge damage in buildings and property”.

Meanwhile, local sources reported that the pro-regime helicopters bombed Masakin Hanano and al-Sha’ar districts with explosive barrels, without recording any casualties.

According to sources, the number of victims by the air strikes launched on Sunday on the city of Aleppo has risen to 60 people, after helicopters of the Syrian air force bombed al-Firdos and Bi’edeen districts with explosive barrels.

This comes amid military operations by the opposition fighters and Islamic battalions against regime-held areas in Aleppo, including al-Hamadaniya, al-Rashideen, and Jam’iyat al-Zahra.
