Aleppo, Syria – Islamic rebel battalions announced on Wednesday evening that they exploded the regime checkpoint of Talat al-Swadi which is located east of the Military Camp of Wadi al-Daif in the southern countryside of Idlib.

A video published on Youtube by the Islamist rebel groups showed the huge effects of the explosion at the location of the regime checkpoint.

Local activist Mohammed al-Idlibi told ARA News that rebel fighters of the Islamic Front and the Sham Army dug a tunnel under the location of the regime checkpoint and remotely detonated explosives which they had planted.

“The detonation of the explosives caused the death and injury of dozens of regime soldiers and completely destroyed the checkpoint,” al-Idlibi said.

Reportedly, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) attacked the regime checkpoint of Dab’an near the Military Camp of Wadi al-Daif with tanks shells and heavy machine guns, while the regime forces responded by targeting the gatherings of the opposition fighters using heavy artillery.

Meanwhile, regime helicopters dropped explosive barrels on the village of Ma’ar Shamsha in the countryside of Idlib, while regime tanks positioned in the regime headquarters in al-Arba’in Mount targeted the village of Kafir Najad, without causing any casualties.

Notably, the Military Camp of Wadi al-Daif, located in the southern countryside of Idlib, is considered to be the biggest gathering of the regime forces in the region. Fighters of the armed opposition (mainly FSA) besiege the regime’s military location for more than one year now amid continuous clashes between the two sides. The regime checkpoint of Talat al-Swadi, which was bombed on Wednesday, is located east of the General Command of the Military Camp of Wadi al-Daif.
