Derik, Syria- The Kurdish Woman Organization (linked to the Kurdish Democratic Party of Syria) launched on Monday a folklore exhibition in the Kurdish Women Solidarity building in Derik city, northeast of Syria.

Dozens of visitors appeared in the building of the exhibition, where a large collection of decades-old tools and equipments were displayed, as well as Kurdish folklore customs and many handicrafts.

“We need to preserve all kinds of tools and equipments used by our forefathers, which after decades appear as precious treasure,” said Sherin, member of the Kurdish Woman Organization.

Talking to ARA News, Sherin, said: “We collected these tools and looked for many things lost from the villages of Derik area (in northeastern Syria). We wanted to show people in Derik the tools used by our ancestors.”

This is the first exhibition of its kind in Derik city held by the Kurdish Woman Organization.
