Efrin, Turkey – Battalions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), which are stationed along the road between Efrin city and the regime-held areas in Aleppo province, announced on Saturday the decision “to prevent state employees of Efrin city from heading to Aleppo to participate in the presidential election”.

The FSA imposed a blockage on Efrin-Aleppo road for days now, local sources reported.

Local activist Jan Hamdosh told ARA News that rumors say that the state employees of Efrin city are compelled by the regime to go to Aleppo city to vote for President Bashar al-Assad in the election –planned on the 3rd of June.”

Meanwhile, the PYD-led local government in the region of Efrin and the “People’s Council of Western Kurdistan” announced that they will boycott Tuesday’s presidential elections, calling it “illegitimate”.

Several representatives of the Local Committee of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Efrin also stated to ARA News that the elections are “illegitimate” and they (KNC) will not participate in it.
