FSA leader executed by al-Nusra militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

Kobane, Syria – Abu Harun, leader of the Military Council of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the city of Mohassan in Deir ez-Zor countryside was slaughtered on Monday evening on the hands of al-Nusra Fron’s (Jabhat al-Nusra) militants, activists reported. Harun was reportedly accused of participation in handing over the city of Mohassan to al-Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Al-Nusra-linked pages on social networking sites stated that the First Lieutenant Abu Harun, “who recently joined the ISIL”, was executed (slaughtered) after taking part in handing over Mohassan city to ISIL group after taking control over the city days before.

Al-Nusra media sources also published pictures of a person beheaded saying that it is Abu Harun.

Recently, violent clashes took place in Deir ez-Zor countryside between the ISIL group militants on the one hand, and al-Nusra Front with other opposition factions on the other hand, caused hundreds of deaths and injuries among the conflicting parties. Thousands of civilians were reportedly displaced from the clashes areas.
