Deir ez-Zor, Syria – Four children were reported dead and five other civilians wounded on Wednesday the city of Quriya in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east of Syria, due to aerial bombardment by the pro-Assad warplanes.
According to Fayez Abdul Aziz, civil activist based in the city of Deir ez-Zor, the pro-Assad warplanes targeted residential neighbourhoods in the city with rockets.
“Dead bodies of four children were removed after being found under the ruins of the buildings,” Abdul Aziz told ARA News.
A similar strike also hit al-Busaira town in Deir ez-Zor province, causing casualties among civilians.
In the meantime, violent clashes took place between al-Nusra Front on the one hand, and militants of al-Qaeda offshoot group of the Islamic State (previously known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant ‘ISIL’) on the other hand, in al-Shiheil town in Deir ez-Zor countryside.
One of al-Nusra fighters was killed and three civilians were reported dead in the vicinity of the clashes, local sources told ARA News.
In a linked development, 6 fighters from Shura al-Mujahideen Council (includes rebels of the Free Syrian Army FSA, al-Nusra Front and the Islamic Front) were reportedly killed in similar clashes with ISIL militants in the vicinity of Baqras town, east of Syria.
The clashes ended up with ISIL’s control over one of the rebels-held headquarters (belongs to the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham which works under the banner of the Islamic Front).
