Pro-Assad forces use toxic gas against rebels in Daraa: activists

Daraa, Syria – On Tuesday, pro-regime warplanes targeted strongholds of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the southern Syrian province of Daraa. 

The FSA-held town of Atman in Daraa countryside was bombed by the Syrian air force, claiming lives of dozens of FSA rebels. Meanwhile, five cases of suffocation among the opposition fighters of the FSA in Atman were reported.

Activists published on Tuesday a video online showing suffocation of several FSA fighters in Atman.

The Syrian opposition accused the regime of President Bashar al-Assad of using toxic gas in Tuesday’s attacks.

Meanwhile, one civilian was reported dead and three others injured in southern Daraa amid artillery shelling by the pro-Assad army forces.

“Pro-Assad army, stationed in Military Division 15, attacked southern neighbourhoods of Daraa city with heavy artillery, killing one civilian and wounding three others,” media activist Haitham al-Nassar told ARA News in Daraa. The injured were transferred to a nearby field hospital.”
