Beirut, Lebanon – On Friday, the Lebanese army forces shot dead three militant fighters of al-Nusra Front in the suburbs of Arsal region, near the Syrian border.

Lebanese local media reported that among the fatalities was Adham Shedad, a prominent member of al-Nusra Front (Syrian branch of al-Qaeda).

The militants were reportedly killed while trying to cross into Lebanon from Syria through the security checkpoint of Wadi Hmeid in the vicinity of Arsal.

In August, Arsal area saw fierce battles with Islamists and militants fighters from Syria and Lebanese army forces, claiming lives of dozens from both sides.
