Aleppo, Syria – Syrian opposition fighters in the city of al-Bab arrested a military member of the Syrian regime who was injured when pro-regime air force dropped a barrel bomb over the city earlier this week, local sources reported on Saturday.

A number of civilians were injured during the barrel bomb attack and have been transferred to hospitals in the city.

“Among the injured, there was an officer from the regime’s army named Hassan Haji Hussein, who held a military ID of warrant officer in the ranks of the pro-Assad military forces,” a local source in al-Ban told ARA News

“Strangely enough, in addition to his regime’s ID, Hussein held a number of other ID cards for different opposition factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) with the same name and some others with different names,” the source added.

The source emphasized that the holder of these ID cards was carrying a membership card of al-Tawheed Brigade of the Islamic Front, a second card of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS), the third one of al-Nusra Front, and the fourth was of the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham, in addition to the military card of the Syrian regime’s army and the civil identity card.

Opposition activists considered Huessein an agent to the Assad regime’s army, “sent on mission to reveal strategies and military plans of the opposition factions against pro-Assad forces”.
