Qamishli, Syria – At least 15 senior militants from the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) were killed in the city of Hit in the Iraqi province of Anbar on Wednesday midnight, as a result of an attack by the U.S.-led coalition’s warplanes, Iraqi security sources reported on Thursday.
Ibrahim al-Fahdawi, head of the security committee in Khalidiya district of Anbar province, said in a press statement on Thursday that U.S.-led coalition’s warplanes bombed IS headquarters in the city of Hit during a meeting held by leading members of the IS terrorist group.
“The bombing killed 15 IS leading members and wounded the group’s financial and administrative officer in Anbar, Salah al-Zein Najim, cousin of the so-called IS Minister of War, Adnan Ismail Najim,” Fahdawi said.
According to the Iraqi official, the operation was based on accurate intelligence information, which enabled the coalition’s forces to bomb the headquarters, inflicting human and material losses to the terrorist group.
In the meantime, the Joint Task Force said in a statement that the coalition’s warplanes launched 25 airstrikes on IS targets in Syria and Iraq on Wednesday.
