Hasakah, Syria – On Monday, militant fighters of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) launched an offensive on the Aliya silos, that are held by Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Hasakah province, northeastern Syria, pro-YPG sources reported.
“A number of IS militants infiltrated into the Aliya silos near Tel Temir town in Hasakah province and clashed with the YPG fighters,” the YPG Media Office told ARA News, adding that no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, two IS-led car bomb attacks hit a YPG checkpoint in the western countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), causing the death of a number of YPG fighters along with civilians.
A source close to the YPG forces in Sere Kaniye told ARA News that two IS-led car bomb attacks hit a YPG-held checkpoint in the village Qoblan west of Mabroouka town, one of which was bombed by YPG fighters before reaching its target, but the second hit the checkpoint, causing casualties.
The source confirmed the death of at least two YPG fighters in the suicide bombing, and the injury of several others along with a number of civilians, including a 9-year-old boy.
On Sunday, an IS-led car bomb attack hit a checkpoint of at-Tahreer Brigade of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) east of Suluk town. At least two FSA fighters were killed during the attack.
“Islamic State terrorists are trying to compensate their losses in northern Syria through conducting car bomb attacks against Kurds and Syrian rebels,” said a YPG fighter.
