GENEVA – New York police arrested on Thursday a man suspected of planning a terror attack on the New Year’s Eve.

According to the U.S. Justice Department, the suspect was planning to attack a restaurant in Rochester, New York.

Emanuel Lutchman, 25, was charged with “attempting to provide material support” to the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS).

“The FBI thwarted Emanuel Lutchman’s intent to kill civilians on New Year’s Eve,” a statement by the U.S. Justice Department quoted FBI Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen as saying.

“The FBI remains concerned about people overseas who use the Internet to inspire people in the United States to commit acts of violence where they live.”
