The French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that Paris is willing to work with Moscow in the fight against terrorism in Syria.
Macron also stressed that the use of chemical weapons by the Russian-backed Assad regime is “a red line” for France.
During his first meeting as president of France with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Macron said: “Any use of chemical weapons would results in reprisals and an immediate riposte, at least where France is concerned.”
In a press conference with Putin, the French President said that his aim was to combat terrorism in Syria, and that he wanted to work with Putin to that end.
