Coalition spokesperson Ryan Dillon on Thursday denied reports that the US-led coalition is providing tanks to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
“If that is the question and you had asked about the SDF receiving tanks from the United States or from the coalition, that is not accurate,” the coalition spokesperson told a reporter during a press conference.
Turkish media reports suggested that the US-led coalition was providing tanks to the SDF.
“First off, I’ll say it is not true, because we support the Syrian Democratic Forces in the fight in Syria. And I’m not going to confirm or deny numbers of truckloads or whatever has been reported,” Colonel Dillon said.
“We have made it clear that we are going to be transparent with the weapons and the equipment that we provide to the Syrian Democratic Forces for the fight against ISIS in Raqqa,” he added.
“In particular, we will make sure that Turkey knows what those — what that equipment is and what those weapons are. And we have maintained that transparency and maintained that dialog with Turkey and will continue to do so,” he concluded.
