Qamishli, Syria– Forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad fired mortar shells on Gueran district in Hasaka city on Thursday. Several casualties among civilians were reported, amid deployment of the opposition forces in the district.
Gueran shelling coincided with clashes between members of the pro-regime National Defense militia and the armed opposition forces at the Bayroni checkpoint, resulting in the death of three National Defense members, media activists told ARA News.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out between rebels of the Islamic Front −backed by Jabhat al-Nusra− and fighters of the Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in al-Shamsani town near Hasaka.
Fighters of Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Front also advance on the western and eastern sides of al-Khabur river, east of Margada town and in the direction of ISIL-held Shadadi city.
Two young girls were reportedly injured amid growing violence near Margada town in Hasaka province.
Ahmad al-Huseini, an activist based in Hasaka, told ARA News that a shell hit a house in al-Dashdisha village near Margada during the clashes on Thursday.
Al-Huseini pointed out that residents of Mergada town escaped to the direction of al-Sur area in Deir al-Zor province due to Margada violence. “15.000 people have been displaced so far,” the source said.
Reportedly, a number of injured ISIL fighters have arrived to Shadadi hospital after clashing with fighters of al-Nusra and the Islamic Front.
