Hasakah, Syria – Abu Mohammad al-Joulani,the leader of al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra), the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, issued a statement saying “The U.S.-led international coalition must take lessons from the experiences in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia as well as the September 11th attacks”.
In a voice message published online under the banner “We give for loyal people”, al-Joulani emphasized what he called “the wrongful step” by the West in attacking Islamists’ strongholds in Syria.
Al-Joulani threatened countries of the international coalition that targets the strongholds of al-Nusra -al Qaeda affiliate- and the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) -al Qaeda offshoot- inside Syria, “of moving war to their countries”.
The leader of al-Nusra stressed that the IS group was the reason behind the international interference in Syria, demanding that the armed opposition factions in Syria, “not join the U.S.-led coalition’s attacks”.
Al-Joulani’s statement came after one year of conflict between his group al-Nusra and IS militants in Syria.
“Since the start of the (Syrian anti-Assad) revolution, America has wanted to abort the revolutionary work by listing al-Nusra as a terrorist group, even before we announced our affiliation to al-Qaeda,” al-Joulani said, pointing out that the Syrian Coalition for Revolutionary Forces and the Opposition (SNC) was established to serve the West’s agenda.
“The only solution to avoid war with Mujahideen -in reference to their fighters- is to leave this region, to stop supporting and protecting Jews, and to leave us to deal with Arab rulers,” said al-Joulani addressing western countries and the U.S.-led international coalition’s forces.
Al-Joulani also invited “Sunnis” in Lebanon not to send their sons to serve in the Lebanese army but to join Mujahideen; as “the Lebanese army is under (Shiite) Hezbollah domination”.
