Qamishli, Syria – The Syrian Human Rights Network (SHRN) reported “30 massacres in Syria during October 2014″.
The SHRN, which is specialized in the documentation of human rights’ violation in Syria, issued a report, saying that 30 massacres took place last month in various areas across Syria.
“The pro-regime forces committed 26 massacres, while the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) has committed two massacres, and the armed opposition groups were also responsible for two massacres against innocent people,” the SHRN reported.
The report was supported with data about the identities of the victims and the locations of the massacres, as well as the types of weapons used in the incidents.
The group documented 7 massacres in Damascus, 7 others in Idlib, in Daraa 6 massacres were reported; Homs also saw 6 massacres, two in Aleppo, while Deir ez-Zor and al-Hasakah saw 1 massacre each in October.
In an interview with ARA News, activist and member of the SHRN, May Sadiq, said that the regime air forces targeted several areas in Damascus and its countryside with steric rockets and barrel bombs during October, led to massacres and cases of mass killings in the areas, of Duma, Arbin, Ain Tarma and the town of Jisreen.
“At least 100 people were killed, including nearly 22 children, in Damascus last month,” she said.
Sadiq added that the regime forces are targeting unarmed civilians, causing the fall of large numbers of victims, mostly children and women.
October saw the killing of 393 Syrians, including 162 children and 51 women, according to the Syrian Human Rights Network.
The group appealed to the international community to transfer the Syrian crisis’ file to the International Criminal Counrt (ICC) “to hold the criminals accountable for these massacres”.
