Explosion hit pro-HDP rally southern Turkey

Urfa, Turkey – An explosion hit a square in the city of Diyarbakir, southeastern Turkey, during a gathering for supporters of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

The explosion caused the injury of at least 10 people, who were transferred to a hospital for treatment, local media reported on Friday. 

The cause of the blast was not immediately clear. According to local sources, the blast was caused by a fault with a power distribution unit, near the location of the pro-HDP rally.

The explosion took place before the co-president of the HDP, Selahettin Demirtas, delivers a speech in the same location.
