DARAA – Cashes erupted on Tuesday between Jordanian security forces and gunmen near the Syrian border.
The clashes, which took place in Jordan’s northern city of Irbid near the border with Syria, broke out after the security forces launched raids in the city in search of outlawed militants.
Several gunmen were killed, while at least three security forces were injured in Tuesday’s clashes, according to the Jordanian security.
Local media sources reported that the security raids targeted positions for religious extremists in Irbid city.
It was not immediately clear whether the militants had links to the Syrian conflict.
