Duhok – Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists executed an Iraqi man on Thursday by drowning him in disinfectant detergent. The extremist group released a video depicting the brutal execution, claiming that the victim was spying for the Iraqi government.
The graphic video was reportedly shot in Mosul where the man resided. While drowning their victim, ISIS broadcast a call which was purportedly between the unfortunate man and an Iraqi radio station.
Thursday’s execution comes as US-backed Iraqi forces started the second phase of the battle for Mosul. The second phase aims to push the ISIS militants out of the city center and across the Tigris River.
On October 17, 2016, the Iraqi Army and the Kurdish Peshmerga launched a major operation to liberate Mosul city and its surroundings from the Islamic State.
