The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Qubad Talabani on Monday arrived in Brussels for a visit to both the European capital and the Netherlands to discuss the war against ISIS, reforms and the upcoming independence referendum.

The Kurdish delegation led by the KRG Deputy Prime Minister first visited Brussels for two days and met with top EU officials “to discuss progress in war on terror, KRG reforms and our peoples aspirations,” Talabani said.

“Happy to hear first hand continued support to peshmerga forces, and support to KRG reform initiatives from EU officials,” he added.

On Wednesday the Kurdish official arrived in the Netherlands, “where we seek to increase collaboration on our common goals of victory against ISIS and continued reform in Kurdistan Region,” he said.

The KRG delegation also met with top officials of the Dutch Defence Ministry, that has been providing support and training to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces against ISIS.

“Good discussion on the next phase of the war on ISIS with the Dutch MoD. Must have a holistic approach to eliminate ISIS,” Qubad Talabani‏ said after meeting officials including Dutch Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis.

“Great to see Jeanine Hennis at the MoD today at Den Haag. Thanked her for her leadership during difficult times,” he said.

Furthermore, the Kurdish delegation discussed water management in Iraqi Kurdistan.

“Constructive meeting with the delegation of Kurdistan headed by deputy PM Talabani to discuss water and wastewater project in Erbil,” said Jurgen Rigterink, CEO and member of the management board of the Dutch Development Bank.
