Tel Abyad, Syria− Renewed clashes took place on Wednesday between al-Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) in Kendal village west of Tel Abyad city in Raqqa province.
At least four ISIL fighters were killed during the clashes, local sources reported.
Saman Kalo, a field media activist accompanying the Kurdish YPG forces, told ARA News that the dead bodies of ISIL fighters were seen in the location of the clashes at the eastern side of Kendal village.
Kalo pointed out that the YPG forces −military arm of the Democratic Union Party (PYD)− have also damaged a military vehicle which belonged to Islamist fighters of ISIL.
Notably, the region experiences a mounting violence since weeks as the conflict between ISIL fighters and the YPG forces continues for control over the Kurdish populated city of Kobane and villages in the western countryside of Tel Abyad.
