Urfa, Turkey – Security forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad arrested on Saturday seven young men from the province of Swaida in southern Syria, at al-Masnaa crossing, near the Syrian-Lebanese border.

The detainees were reportedly transferred to the military recruitment center in Swaida to join the Syrian army units.

The Druze sect constitutes a majority of the population in the province of Swaida.

Swaida News Network reported that the Syrian regime is forcing young men in the city to join the army and fight against the rebels.

The source pointed out that the regime-linked local authorities declared public mobilization under the pretext of fighting Islamist rebels. Anyone trying to leave the province is being arrested and transferred to the recruitment centers in order to join the regime army.

The military recruitment in Swaida also includes those who already performed the obligatory military service. Thus all men aged 18-40 are obliged to join the conflict in favour of Assad regime, local sources said.
