Kobane, Syria – On Tuesday, militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, killed three Kurdish civilians in the vicinity of Kobane in Aleppo province, northern Syria, activists from the city of Kobane told ARA News.
The sources emphasized that the militants of the Islamic State beheaded Aref and Adel Shukri from the village of Minas after they entered the IS-held village. They were captured at a security checkpoint of IS and beheaded in public under pretext of having links with the Kurdish forces of the YPG –which has been in conflict with the IS for months.
Meanwhile, IS militants reportedly slaughtered Zuhair Mustafa, a resident of the village of Bender in the countryside of Kobane. Mustafa was taken from his home and beheaded by IS militants, local sources said.
On the other hand, IS extremists targeted the city of Kobane with mortar fire and artillery on Wednesday evening. At least two civilians were killed and dozens other injured.
Local sources in the border city also reported that IS group advanced towards the city of Kobane on Wednesday evening, after the withdrawal of the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) from the city suburbs amid sharp shortage of weapons.
