Suruc, Turkey – Kurdish civilians clashed with the Turkish border guards near Kobane on Wednesday, locals reported.

Hundreds of Turkey’s Kurds, who support Kobane’s struggle against ISIS (Islamic State), gathered with dozens of Kobane’s displaced people in the in the village of Masara near the border to celebrate the liberation of the city.

The crowd decided to cross the border and enter Kobane in order to complete their celebrations there, eyewitnesses told ARA News

However, the Turkish security forces and border guards formed a human shield supported with heavy vehicles alongside the border, which caused clashes with the Kurdish protesters there. No casualties were reported.

Suleiman Mohammed, a displaced man from Kobane, told ARA News in the village of Masara that the clashes prompted the gathered Kurds to retreat towards the village, and then the Turkish security forces blocked the roads with stones and large rocks.

Noteworthy, the majority of the Kurdish cities in Syria, Turkey, and Iraq have been engaging in massive celebrations since Sunday in honor of Kobane’s victory against IS radicals.
