DAMASCUS – More than 15 people were killed and dozens of others wounded in a Russian airstrike in a northwestern Syrian town, activists reported on Wednesday.
“Russian warplanes hit a medical center in the town of Sarmin in Idlib province, causing the death of at least 15 people, including medical staff,” media activist Omar Hamdan told ARA News.
“The airstrike took place on Tuesday midnight, but we are still searching for victims who might be left under the rubble,” Hamdan added.
“The number of victims could increase as many of the wounded are in critical conditions amid lack of medicines and equipment.”
According to reports, the medical center was run by the Syrian-American Medical Society, whose staff confirmed that strikes had “severely damaged” the facility.
