Urfa, Turkey – On Monday, the YPG’s leadership reported at least 37 militants of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) were killed in clashes with Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the southern countryside of Kobane and near the town of Tel Temir, in northern Syria.

According to military sources, the radical group brought new reinforcements to the town of Serrin, south of Kobane, through the Tishreen Bridge.

The YPG’s Media Center issued a statement, of which ARA News received a copy, saying: “Twenty-four IS terrorists were killed in clashes in the vicinity of the Qara Qozak Bridge on Monday evening when the YPG forces deterred an IS attack, seizing weapons and ammunition.”

The battle at Qara Qozak claimed the lives of four YPG fighters south of Kobane.

Speaking to ARA News, Abu Ali Osman, a fighter in the ranks of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), said that a convoy of armored vehicles and heavy weapons belonging to the radical group was observed heading from the Tishreen Bridge towards the town of Serrin, where fierce battles continue between the joint forces (YPG, FSA, and Peshmerga) and the insurgents of the Islamic State.

The source confirmed that about 100 militants are now trapped in the silos of Serrin, adding that the new reinforcements are coming to support these trapped fighters.

In the meantime, the YPG’s leadership pointed out that thirteen IS terrorists were killed, including military officers, during clashes in the vicinity of the town of Tel Temir town in Hasakah’s countryside on Monday.

“The clashes centered in the villages of Tel Nasiri, Tel Kharita, and Tel Baz, causing injury to dozens IS terrorists and the destruction of three armored vehicles belonging to the group,” the YPG’s Media Center added.

Last week, the joint forces were able to enter the town of Serrin, where hit and run battles continued until Monday evening.
