Aleppo, Syria – The pro-Syrian regime warplanes conducted several air strikes on Anadan city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, killing and injuring dozens of people in the area, local sources reported on Saturday.

Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, civil rights activist Mohammad al-Hussein said that pro-Assad helicopters dropped a number of barrel bombs on residential buildings in the town of Anadan.

“The number of victims reached more than 15 people along with 30 other injuries, most of them are in a critical condition,” Hussein said.

The source reported that the town suffers from an acute shortage of medical supplies and staff.

This massacre came in conjunction with the intensification of fighting between the Syrian regime forces and the armed opposition factions in Bashkoy front north of the city of Aleppo, which resulted in death of the military commander in Brigade 16 of the Syrian opposition’s armed infantry.

Speaking to ARA News, a fighter in ash-Shamiya Front (major armed opposition faction in Aleppo) confirmed that the pro-Assad Shi’ite fighters of the Brigade Abu Fadl al-Abbas withdrew from the front of Bashkoy to the Military Academy in Aleppo.

On the other hand, the media activist Wael al-Ahmad told ARA News that the clashes between the ash-Shamiya Front and the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) continued near Hor an-Naher and Soran in the northern countryside of Aleppo for the third consecutive day.

This comes as the IS radical group is trying to advance toward Azaz city north of Aleppo, using artillery and mortar shells against Syrian rebels in the area.

After taking over the ancient city of Palmyra, the IS radical group seeks to control the countryside of Aleppo to strengthen its position over Syria’s key areas.
